Frozen shoulder

 

Common symptoms are achy pain and stiffness in the shoulder. It often persists for an extended period of time.(Note: frozen shoulder can be long lasting, not appropriate to write a year) Those with frozen shoulder usually find daily activities like combing hair, hooking bra and pulling pants to be difficult. For some people, the pain worsens at night, sometimes disrupting sleep. Ultrasound and shockwave treatment, together with individualized stretching and strengthening program, can help to relieve the symptoms and restore motion.

It can be caused by problems with the knee joint itself, conditions affecting ligaments, tendons or bursae, muscle sprains, degeneration and faulty alignment of pelvis/ hip / foot. Specific exercise therapy, sports taping and electrical stimulation can help to reduce pain, allow you to function better by reducing load on the knee joint, strengthening muscles in the hips and lower limbs.

Runner, football or basketball player commonly experienced pain at back of the thigh. Hamstrings is a group of 4 muscles which bend the knee. With forceful and repetitive contraction of the muscle, strain may happen and stop you from exercise. Proper stretching, swelling control treatment and graded strengthening exercise would definitely help you in the rehabilitation process.

Instability of wrist joints and triangular fibrocartilage (TFCC) injuries are the common causes of the wrist pain. Physiotherapists provide ultrasound treatment, acupuncture, taping, movement analysis and prescribe specific exercises to relieve pain and help stabilizing the wrist.

Have you heard of carpal tunnel syndrome? Feeling numb at fingers and palm which wakened you up during your sleep? You will need stretching exercise, modification of work station, brace for support and anti-inflammatory treatment.

De Quervain Syndrome

It is due to tenosynovitis of the thumb tendon. It is very common problem for new mother. Pain usually experience at wrist level when the thumb is moving and wrist is moving towards the little finger. Gentle stretching, ultrasound, acupuncture and strengthening exercise would help this condition.

Triggering fingers

 

A palpable nodule at base of finger can cause triggering of finger. Condition is worst in the early morning and after too much finger movement. Ultrasound, shockwave and stretching exercise may relieve the pain and loosening up the thickening.
